Bachelor of Social Work
The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work offers a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program that prepares students to improve lives through service, empathy and respect. The BSW focuses on developing core practical skills for generalist practice, including conducting assessments, evaluating effectiveness of social services, population specific interventions and community engagement through an interdisciplinary approach.
We See Solutions
Grounded in the core values of service, empathy, and respect, our BSW empowers students to help individuals, families and communities to meet challenges and improve lives. Where others see only problems, we help our students see the solutions.
We follow the National Association of Social Worker's (NASW) Code of Ethics and are aligned with the Council on Social Work Education's (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). Our program promotes professional readiness through development of key competencies in areas such as ethical and professional behavior, respect for individual experiences, human rights, research-informed practice, and policy practice.
Make a Difference in Any Role
A social work perspective enhances any career by emphasizing human connection, cultural humility, and systems thinking. Whether pursuing direct service, advocacy, or policy, students graduate prepared to navigate complex social environments and lead purposefully.
Our BSW graduates are prepared for careers in behavioral/mental health service, child welfare, criminal justice, education, and housing or policy advocacy. They can also move directly into the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work Advanced Standing MSW, completing their master's in just one year through our advanced standing option.
