Social Work Ceremonies

The social work ceremonies are where graduates’ names are called and they receive their diploma cover. The social work ceremonies are not ticketed; however, graduates are required to register to participate. Guest seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration for Social Work Ceremonies

Graduates only need to register if they plan to participate in one of the social work ceremonies. If you are eligible to participate in the ceremony, you will have received an email prompting you to register. Please see the eligibility page if you have questions about participation.

Disability Information

If you have a guest with special needs, please note Alumni Memorial Park is wheelchair accessible. Guests should bring their own wheelchair. There is a limited number of wheelchairs that can be checked out from the university. Wheelchairs or wheelchair seating cannot be reserved. Due to limited space, special needs guests can only have one escort accompany them in the designated seating area. For more information regarding special needs, please visit our disability information page and the university’s disability information page.

Social Work Receptions

All graduates and guests are invited to the receptions following the social work ceremonies. Refreshments will be served. You do not have to RSVP; we only ask that you register for a ceremony.

Cap & Gown Rentals

Regalia, or what is known informally as cap and gown, can be rented at the USC Bookstore. Graduates also have the option to order online and have it shipped for a fee. Graduates may wear military dress uniform instead of a cap and gown. Both are considered ceremonial dress and appropriate for commencement ceremonies.

Non-graduating students can sign up to assist with ushering and other duties at the social work ceremony.
