Registration FAQs

Important Information

  1. Review your appointment time in OASIS. You may register for classes at or after your registration appointment time. Please note that registration is first come, first served.
Note: Any schedule changes after the first week of classes must be processed through the Enrollment Services office and are not likely to be approved.
  2. Review your d-clearance on registration day by clicking on Cleared Sections under My Info via Web Registration.
Note: D-clearance is department clearance to register for classes. You will automatically be granted d-clearance for your required classes. You do not need to request it.
  3. Check for holds/restrictions on your account via OASIS. Please resolve any holds by calling the number indicated prior to registration day. You may also reach out to the Enrollment Services office at sdp.enroll@usc.edu with any questions or concerns.
  4. Plan your schedule in Web Registration or by consulting the schedule of classes online. Please note that all times listed are Pacific, and the schedule is subject to change. Classes with low enrollment may be canceled.
Note: Per School policy, we are not able to offer instructor preference.
  5. Review your curriculum to know your next sequence of coursework.
Note: All courses must be completed for a Letter Grade, except for Research and Capstone courses (DSW) and practicum courses (MSW) which are completed Credit/No Credit. Courses completed Pass/No Pass will not count toward your DSW or MSW degree.
  6. Review your STARS Report after completing your first semester of coursework. This is available through OASIS and contains a detailed listing of your degree requirements that have been met and those that remain to be fulfilled. Please check your STARS periodically and reach out to Enrollment Services if you notice any discrepancies. Failure to do so may lead to delayed degree posting.

Requesting for D-Clearance

SDPSSW (DSW/MSN/MSW) students

Students are automatically cleared for classes that they are required to take each semester on or after their registration appointment time.

Students can view a list of d-cleared courses in MyUSC 'D-clearance' screen the day of their registration appointment time.

Students who wish to register for additional classes should send an email to sdp.enroll@usc.edu to request for a D-clearance.

USC Non-SDPSSW students

Students may contact the Enrollment Services office at sdp.enroll@usc.edu to request d-clearance for a course they are interested in taking within the SOWK class offerings. The request will need to be reviewed by the designated Program Director prior to clearance provided to the student.

Non-USC Students

For individuals not enrolled at USC and are interested in taking SOWK classes, please complete the Limited Status form and provide the completed form to sdp.enroll@usc.edu for processing. The section requested must have space available to receive approval along with approval from the designated Program Director. The request to enroll in a class during a specific semester must be received at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester.
