Job Description

As a Research Intern, you will contribute to Kidsave’s mission by conducting research and providing analytical support. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting in-depth research on current state and federal child welfare policies.
• Examining policy areas within the child welfare system that contribute to racial and ethnic disparities, as well as systemic barriers that impact LGBTQ+ youth.
• Gathering information through both primary and secondary research methods.
• Compiling, synthesizing, and presenting findings for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contributing to reports, policy briefs, and proposals.
• Assisting with information management and data organization to support ongoing and future expansion projects.
Through this internship, you will gain:
• A deeper understanding of child welfare policies and systems.
• Hands-on experience in nonprofit research and administration.
• Exposure to methodologies used in social impact research.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within six months of the internship start date) from a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Social Work, Sociology, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with social science research methods, including data collection and analysis.
• Prior experience conducting research on child welfare, nonprofit effectiveness, or policy-related topics.
• Previous experience or knowledge of the U.S. foster care system, including its policies, challenges, and reform efforts.
