Lupus LA Patient Services Associate

Lupus LA is a non-profit health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and cure for lupus while providing support, services, and hope to all that suffer from lupus. We raise funds to support our 3 core areas of focus: medical research, patients services and awareness and advocacy initiatives. At Lupus LA, we fight to shift each narrative from pain to promise.

The Patient Services Associate is a full-time position. The candidate must be SSCW, BSW or CSW certified. They will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for a variety of comprehensive patient services, including 1:1 support, patient/family education and advocacy, and organizational tasks. Candidates must have some direct client services experience, preferably in the non-profit or medical space. They must have the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends (only a few dates per year). Licensed driver with reliable transportation and ability to meet organizations minimum auto insurance requirements. This is a hybrid position. Bi-lingual preferred. Salary $65,000-$75,000 a year.

Patient Services:
• First point of contact for incoming calls from patients, caregivers, and partners.
• Provides patients and families with relevant tangible resources and person-centered emotional support.
• Manage Emergency Grant Program
o Guide patients through the application process.
o Track distribution of funds and management of program calendar.
o Identify potential sources of applications for marketing
• Manage webinars (scheduling, speakers, and day of logistics, acquisition of presenters following assessment of community needs).
• Facilitate and coordinate support groups.
o Scheduling and coordinate virtual support groups w/facilitator.
o Collect and manage data from support groups.
o Create and distribute E-Blast monthly support group calendar.
o Ongoing assessment of needs per facilitator reports
• Manage Patient and Care Giver Conferences and events: (in-person and digital)
o Identify relevant topics, speakers, audience
o Planning and scheduling, Registration, community engagement on day of event
o Identify local events that align with our mission and participate in community events.
• Build and maintain relationships with lupus centers/clinics, infusion centers and dialysis centers both local and national.
• Responsible for developing education materials and policies that are affirming and person/family centered.
• Manage database of resources and referrals.
• Participate in Lupus LA events, administrative meetings, board meetings and other activities as needed.
• Maintain databases and contact lists: including patients, doctors, referrals, resources, support groups., etc.

Volunteer Management and Event Support:
• Assist in organizing events, conferences, symposiums.
• Help with logistics and post-event follow-up.
• On-site registration, check-in, and other assistance during the event.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Qualifications:
• SSCW, BSW or CSW required.
• Personal and/or professional experience with patients and caregivers preferred.
• Sensitivity to the importance of accurately recording donor data.
• Experience managing dynamic projects and working with a diverse population.
• Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
• Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills.
• Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing.
• High attention to detail.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, managers, staff, volunteers, auxiliary member, community, and volunteer organizations.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and respond to completing deadlines and requests in a calm and productive manner.
• Must be computer literate and have experience working with Microsoft Office, data analysis software, google workspace, and social media.
