Job Description

The Academy Project 501c3 provides support, resources, and advocacy to foster youth in Los Angeles, CA through education, empowerment, and community. The Co-Op, our no-cost after school program, has proven to be an invaluable resource, offering a positive space where foster youth can feel uplifted, supported and empowered. The Co-Op provides a safe, nurturing environment where foster children, who are often navigating immense challenges, have access to academic support, mentorship, social and emotional development, enrichment and much more...

However, we continue to face a significant barrier to reaching these youth. Due to confidentiality regulations, we are unable to directly reach out to the youth or their foster families. This restriction has made it exceedingly difficult to connect with those who could benefit and thrive most in our program. Our efforts to engage the department, schools, foster care agencies, and other community partners have not yielded the results we need, and we find ourselves constantly pushing with few to no results.

We are lookiing for a Children's Social Worker with experience working with/for DCFS, LAUSD, and the many other organizations that are involved in the lives of foster youth, who is excited by the work we do and motivated to help us connect with the foter youth and families these programs were designed for.
Please email your resume and let us know what is exciting to you about this opportunity in your email.
Any and all questions are welcome. lcosta@theacademyproject.org
