Job Description

# Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) — Sex Therapy / Private Practice

**Part-Time | Telehealth | $50–$65/hour | Supervision Provided**

**Please read before applying:** This is a part-time opportunity, not a full-time job with a ready-made caseload. You'll be responsible for developing your own clients and should expect to maintain other sources of income, especially in the beginning. I'll help where I can, including referring sliding-scale clients and other inquiries from my practice.

The ideal applicant is a self-starter. If you're comfortable marketing yourself, creating social media content, networking, and finding creative ways to attract clients, you could eventually build a caseload larger than mine. And that's the idea. I want you to learn the clinical and business sides of private practice, develop your own following, and eventually have the opportunity to continue working with your clients independently once you're licensed, subject to client choice and continuity-of-care requirements.

**About the Practice**

Tim Norton Therapy is a Los Angeles-based psychotherapy practice specializing in sex therapy, sexual dysfunction, relationship difficulties, and chronic pain. My work includes erectile difficulties, performance anxiety, low desire, pelvic pain, infidelity, and mind-body disorders.

I bring years of clinical experience, specialized training, and a practical, evidence-based approach to therapy. I also teach and provide professional education in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT).

**What You'll Do**

- Build and manage your own private-pay caseload.
- Develop your Psychology Today profile, social media presence, and referral network.
- Provide individual and potentially couples therapy via telehealth.
- Handle scheduling, documentation, and routine billing administration through the practice.
- Participate in clinical supervision and develop your therapeutic skills.
- Learn the business of running a private psychotherapy practice.

**What I'll Provide**

- Clinical supervision toward California licensure.
- Mentorship in sex therapy, relationships, chronic pain, and private practice.
- Referrals when available, particularly clients seeking sliding-scale fees.
- Practice billing and payment infrastructure.
- Flexibility to develop your own clinical interests and professional identity.

**Compensation & Requirements**

- $50–$65/hour for clinical work, with compensation for other required working time.
- Part-time W-2 employment with flexible scheduling.
- Active California ASW registration and eligibility to work in a supervised private-practice setting.
- Interest in sex therapy and willingness to pursue specialized professional development.
- Initiative, reliability, sound clinical judgment, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

**The goal is simple:** Earn your hours, learn a trade, and develop the clinical and business skills to build a successful private practice of your own.

Qualifications

**Qualifications**

- Active California ASW registration and eligibility to work in a supervised private-practice setting.
- Strong interest in sex therapy, sexual health, and relationships.
- Priority given to applicants who completed a graduate-level Human Sexuality course or have additional training or experience in sex education, sexual wellness, couples therapy, LGBTQ+ issues, or nonmonogamy.
- Relevant nonclinical experience is also welcome, including work in sexual health advocacy, sex-positive education, kink/BDSM communities, or other sexuality-related fields.
- Comfortable discussing sexuality openly, professionally, and without judgment.
- **A genuine appetite for reading, studying, and continued learning.** Sex therapy is a highly specialized field, and most graduate programs barely scratch the surface. Expect to read extensively, explore current research, and develop knowledge and skills well beyond what you learned in graduate school.
- Self-directed, entrepreneurial, and interested in building a private practice.
