Job Description

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is seeking a compassionate, proactive, highly organized, and mission-oriented Case Manager to support its Emergency Financial Assistance program. Reporting to the Director of Assistance Programs, this role serves as the primary point of contact for SAG-AFTRA members seeking financial assistance during times of crisis. The position also refers members to the Foundation’s professional development programs and external community resources that may help address their current needs and challenges. The ideal candidate is committed to providing exceptional customer service, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting members with empathy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary contact for SAG-AFTRA members throughout the emergency financial assistance process.
• Meet with financial assistance applicants, collect and verify supporting documentation, present cases to the review committee, and communicate final decisions and social service referrals.
• Assess applicants’ needs and provide referrals to internal and community programs that may offer financial, housing, food, utility, healthcare, employment, or other supportive services.
• Research and vet community resources to ensure referral information remains accurate, current, and relevant to applicants’ needs.
• Collaborate with members to complete or submit applications for external assistance programs, when additional support is appropriate.
• Schedule and conduct intake meetings with applicants via video or phone call in order to gather financial and personal information.
• Input and maintain case and applicant data within Salesforce.
• Build and nurture partnerships with peer organizations in the entertainment community and broader social services landscape.
• Ensure accurate documentation and strict confidentiality of all program data and participant records.
• Record committee decisions and communicate approval/denial notifications to applicants via email and/or phone.
• Monitor application timelines to ensure prompt processing and communication.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, a related field.
• One to three years of case management and/or community resourcing experience.
• Experience managing multiple cases promptly with overlapping deadlines
• Demonstrated empathy and sound professional judgment in supporting individuals through complex, sensitive issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; adept at working with individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs.
• High degree of organizational skill and attention to detail; able to independently manage time and responsibilities.
• Experience maintaining electronic records and casenotes.
• Technologically proficient in Google Workspace and general PC use; Salesforce experience is a plus.
• Committed to contributing to a positive, inclusive, and dynamic team culture.

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with the unique needs of performing arts and entertainment professionals.
• Experience using online social service portals/forms (e.g., BenefitsCal, NYC Housing Connect, LAHSA Coordinated Entry System) on behalf of clients with accessibility needs.
• Spanish language fluency is a plus.
