This mini-conference will feature a day of news and information about social work opportunities in growing practice areas, tips for career development, inspiration to grow your skills and networking with your professional social work colleagues.
You'll learn who is funding social work positions, which practice areas are growing and core competencies required to pursue jobs in these areas.
Courses will tackle such topics as military social work, working in government, social work in the mental health field, working with children and much more.
Presenters include:
- Anthony Hassan, EdD, LCSW, director of the USC Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans and Military Families, on military social work
- Wendy Smith, PhD, LCSW, director of instructional enhancement at the USC School of Social Work and author of Youth Leaving Foster Care: A Developmental, Relationship-Based Approach to Practice (Oxford University Press, 2011), on transitional age youth
- Victor Manalo, PhD, MSW, on social work and government
- Wynne Alexander, LCSW, on family mental health
- Patricia Green, MSW, on age 0-5 mental health
- Anita Chun from the Center For Healthcare Rights
