The Behavior, Health, and Society Research Cluster invites you for a session with Clinical Associate Professor Betsy Phillips and Clinical Professor Murali Nair that will emphasize evidence on how specific physical and mental health practices are associated with the development of mental illness.

Phillips joined the USC School of Social Work faculty in 2011. She is certified to practice interpersonal psychotherapy and errorless learning. Her clinical experience has been with adults with co-occurring disorders in community mental health and residential treatment settings.

Nair joined the School of Social Work in 2012 after 20 years teaching at Cleveland State University, including stints as the co-director of the Center for Healing Across Cultures and director of its School of Social Work. Nair began his professional social work career in health settings and later became involved in procuring community resources for children, and the migrant and refugee populations. His interdisciplinary research interests include alternative health systems, gerontology (cross-national studies on centenarians, healthy aging), service learning, poverty and disaster management.
