Congratulations to Salcido on His Appointment to NASW's Child Welfare Section Committee

Dr. Salcido joined the USC faculty in 1975. Prior to pursuing an academic career, he had extensive experience working with Mexican-Americans and undocumented aliens. He has also worked on political campaigns with political action committees and in lobbying activities.

Dr. Salcido teaches social policy and practice in the COPA concentration and an elective course in political practice. His ongoing interest is in the area of political participation and cross-cultural research. Additionally, he is concerned with issues impacting Mexican-Americans, mental health and racism. He is currently doing research on cross-cultural training models and will be presenting a paper, "The Changing Ethnic Demographics of Canada and Quebec: Implications for Social Work Services," at the Ecole De Service Social Universite La Val in Quebec, Canada, on Oct. 4.
