POSITION SUMMARY: As a direct report to Title IX Coordinator/Clery Officer and Associate Dean, the Assistant Director, Campus Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Support is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of training and other holistic education programs to help prevent violence on campus. Topics may include, but are not limited to, sexual violence, dating and domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, discrimination, consent, bystander intervention and online personal safety. They are also responsible for direct oversight support services at the College related to addressing gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence on campus. This position is committed to prevention and support that is grounded in community needs, as well as comprehensive, trauma informed, evidence based and intersectional approaches.
Reporting directly to the Title IX Coordinator/Clery Officer and Associate Dean, the Assistant Director, Campus Advocacy Resources Education and Support performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Initiate and plan training and programming for the campus community
utilizing a holistic, intersectional, and trauma informed lens for topics
related to violence prevention, healing from experienced harm, bystander
intervention, risk reduction and education strategies.
- Prepare and conduct training in the areas of Title IX, Clery, sexual
violence, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment and
discrimination.
- Respond to workshop and training requests, utilizing current best
practices.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive strategic plan for the prevention of
sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and
discrimination at the College.
- Provide direct oversight of and regular supervision, training, and support
for the following peer programs: Women’s Union and CARES Campus Advocates.
- Serves as a College-designated Confidential Resource with limited
reporting responsibilities federally mandated by the Clery Act consistent
with the Colleges Title IX and sexual misconduct policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and
regulations regarding sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, stalking,
sexual harassment and discrimination.Work with the Title IX & Clery teams
to assist with policy development, compliance review, assessment and
annual reports.
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications to create College-wide
educational publications (print and web) and marketing campaigns.
- Assist with the evaluation and assessment of programs on a regular basis,
maintaining records of program effectiveness.
- Assists in providing initial care, support and advocacy to those who are
impacted by allegations of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence,
stalking, sexual harassment and/or discrimination. Provides information
and referral services to campus and community resources.
- Partner with Campus Life and Housing and Residence Life to communicate
compliance and violence prevention to all incoming students (First Year,
Transfer, and International), prior to arrival and through orientation
programs and information distribution.
- Ensure that compliance records regarding prevention education and support
services are accurate and kept current.
- Administer, manage and monitor programming & training budgets for peer
programs.
- Collaborate with new and existing campus and community partners, e.g.,
Project Sister Family Services, EmPOWER Center, Health Education Outreach
(HEO) Office, and all Claremont Colleges partners.
- Other projects and duties assigned by the Title IX Coordinator/Clery
Officer and Associate Dean.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in related field (e.g. Education, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience that includes direct supervision of young adults/student staff in leadership positions; crisis intervention and/or personal support/counseling services for individuals who have experienced sexual violence, dating/domestic violence and/or stalking; leadership of prevention programs/initiatives; and program and event planning.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: Regular, full-time, benefits eligible, exempt position. The salary for this role is between $80,550 - $85,000 per year, with a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the organization will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include education, training, prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, except during the designated summer period when office hours end at 4:30 p.m. Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
