Publishing in a Social Science Journal: Advice for Graduate Students and Early Career Scholars
Preparing for the Professoriate Series

Dr. Merril Silverstein will discuss ways that graduate students and early career scholars can optimize their success by publishing in peer reviewed journals.
Drawing on more than four years of experience as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Silverstein will discuss strategies to help you avoid common pitfalls on the pathway to publication. There will be time for you to share your good and less-than-good experiences in scholarly publishing, and ask about handling a particular issue you currently may be facing with your manuscript.
Silverstein is the inaugural Marjorie Cantor Professor of Aging Studies in the Department of Sociology and School of Social Work at Syracuse University.
