API Rise: Courage, Voice, and Visibility

Cost:
Free (Lecture)--$50 (Reception)
Details:

The Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work invites you to attend the Paul Chikahisa Memorial Lecture & 19th Annual Asian Pacific Islander Caucus Scholarship Reception from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on March 30, 2017 at the Ronald Tutor Campus Center Ballroom.

Each year, USC's API Social Work Caucus hosts the Paul Chikahisa Memorial Lectureship to honor social worker Paul Chikahisa, a respected community advocate. The lectureship is established by his wife and USC alumna, Frances Chikahisa, and supported by friends, family, and community members.

Since its establishment in 2010, the Chikahisa Memorial Lectureship has featured a lecturer who embodies Paul’s commitment to social work and community empowerment. The lecture is free to all and will begin at 4:30PM. Doors open at 4PM.

Following the lecture is our annual scholarship reception to raise funds for the only student-initiated endowed scholarship in the USC School of Social Work. To date, we have helped many scholarship recipients pursue their education and serve the community as knowledgeable and highly trained social workers.

The Scholarship Reception will begin at 6PM, doors open at 5:30PM. The night's theme will be highlighting portraits of courage throughout multiple generations, with focus on how the API community has engaged in activism, community empowerment, and solidarity-building throughout the years.

Regular tickets are $50 per seat, with "Sponsor a Student" tickets at $35 per seat and a Full table (8 seats) at $350 per table.
