Patient engagement has been described as everything from “wireless medicine” to “the blockbuster drug of the century” to “the new holy grail of health care.” But holy grails aside, patient engagement is a serious health priority and a core strategy for improving the performance of our national health care system. Providers and entrepreneurs alike are asking how to better empower patients and make them partners in their own health.

This event's panel of experts includes Keck School of Medicine of USC primary care physician and patient self-management expert Dr. Brian Prestwich, serial entrepreneur and GenieMD founder Dr. Soheil Saadat, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles physician and telemedicine expert Dr. Thomas Lee. They will come together to discuss the future of patient engagement and grapple with the industry’s most pressing questions:
  • How are we maximizing developments in patient engagement to leverage the key ingredients of better care: communication, collaboration, organization and education?
  • Is engagement through consumer-facing devices and tools here to stay?
  • How soon will providers be prescribing “apps” in lieu of pharmaceuticals?
  • Who is the patient of the future?
Schedule:
11:30 a.m.: Check-in and lunch
12 - 2 p.m.: Panel discussion and networking
