LA Street Medicine Symposium: Exploring the Action of Authentic Solidarity
August 21, 2020 | 7:40 am - 2:30 pm
The LA Street Medicine Symposium is an essential step toward developing a workforce ready to serve our neighbors living on the street. Street medicine is designed to address the unique needs and circumstances of the unsheltered homeless, with care being delivered directly to them in their own environment. This alternative healthcare delivery model has been adopted in various forms county-wide. The Symposium addresses a stated desire for educational opportunities and technical assistance to support learning and workforce development. It is crafted to increase knowledge and confidence in street medicine to fuel expansion.
The LA Street Medicine Symposium grounds attendees in the fundamental principles of street medicine and teaches best practices through presentations from street medicine leaders in Los Angeles and nation-wide. Issues regarding mental health, physical health, substance abuse, risk management, compliance and quality assurance will prepare attendees to deliver high-quality, safe care on the street.
