Human trafficking of children is a form of modern-day slavery, child abuse,and an egregious violation of human rights! This workshop will provide practical information and resources that are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive to empower individuals and strengthen policies in all sectors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define and identify all forms of human trafficking
  • Recognize risk and protective factors
  • Apply practical strategies for responding and preventing human trafficking of children and youth.
  • Identify critical resources all practitioners can use to respond and prevent human trafficking.

About the Presenter

Holly Priebe Sotelo, DPPD, MSW is a clinical associate professor of field education at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Priebe Sotelo has a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services, and a doctoral degree from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. Priebe Sotelo has three decades of practical social work experience, including direct practice and the coordination of policy and curriculum development on topics including school crisis response; threat assessment; school bullying and harassment; child abuse; human trafficking; diversity and anti-bias; intergroup relations and mediation; teen dating violence; educator sexual misconduct; and restorative justice.


ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
The University of Southern California (USC) Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, an accredited school of social work as defined in Business and Professions Code section 4991.2, meets the requirements set forth in section 4996.22(d) (1). The School is recognized by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a continuing education provider pursuant to Section 1887.4.3.


CREDIT DESIGNATION
*California licensed social workers, marriage and family therapists and professional clinical counselors attending can earn 1.5 CEUs. Participants must attend the virtual workshop and take the post-event test and evaluation to receive 1.5 CEUs. If you are licensed outside the state of California, we urge you to check with your licensing board to see if the training outlined meets continuing education requirements in your state.
