The USC School of Social Work Serious Mental Illness Services and Quality of Life Research Cluster invites you to join us as Dr. Marvin Southard, DSW, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, shares his vision and progress in developing “Health Neighborhoods” as a community-based approach to coordinated care among health, mental health and substance abuse programs. Health Neighborhoods offer a platform to improve the quality of public mental health care by lessening the stigma of clients and addressing the most relevant social determinants of health outcomes in a particular community.
