Healing from Racial Trauma
Details:

Healing from Racial Trauma: With a focus on addressing the impact of Anti-Blackness on mental health.

The roots of racism run deep and impact us economically, educationally, physically and in many other ways, seen and unseen. What is often overlooked are the mental health impacts of Race-based trauma. Self-doubt, hypervigilance, imposter syndrome, anxiety and depression are some of the impacts people of color face as a result of racism. In this training, participants will learn the definition of Race-based trauma, its presentation and how individuals and communities can take steps to heal.

The format of this two part training will include didactic instruction, small discussions and opportunity for individual reflection.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this meeting, participants will:

  • Learn some of the physical manifestations of Racial Trauma.
  • Learn some of the psychological manifestations of Racial Trauma.
  • Review and discuss common microaggressions.
  • Learn concrete strategies for assisting clients in healing from Racial Trauma.
