Biography
Gabriel Robles (he/él) is an assistant professor and clinical social worker with a research focus on substance use prevention and sexual health among sexual and gender minorities (SGM). He has a strong interest in addressing health inequities among Latine/x SGM populations. Robles examines the influence of cultural values, institutional and interpersonal support, and multiple identities on protective factors that mitigate negative health outcomes. His research delves into the complex interplay of these factors to better understand how they can be leveraged to improve health outcomes for marginalized groups.
In addition to his primary research interests, Robles explores the roles that family and romantic/sexual partners play in the health and well-being of sexual and gender minorities. This aspect of his work highlights the significant impact of close relationships on health behaviors and outcomes. Robles is also a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, demonstrating his commitment to evidence-based practices in clinical interventions. His multifaceted research agenda, teaching and professional service underscore his dedication to advancing the health and well-being of SGM communities.
