Visit from Dr. Geetha Gopalan
Dr. Geetha Gopalan, a post-doctoral fellow at the New York University Silver School of Social Work, will give a presentation on her research and clinical practice related to child welfare, child and adolescent mental health services, and adolescent risk behavior.
She has specifically focused on family-school collaborations, increasing access to mental health services, and issues specific to foster care. As a faculty fellow at the Silver School of Social Work's McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research, Gopalan develops private and federal pilot grant proposals for intervention research projects pertaining to child and adolescent mental health services in inner-city communities. Gopalan also has recent clinical experience as a social work supervisor in child and adolescent psychiatry in the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
