Trojan Family Weekend: "Reel" Change: Social Work Filmmaking
"Reel" Change: Social Work Filmmaking
This mini-film festival presents short documentaries directed by graduate students from USC's Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. The shorts were made for professor Rafael Angulo's course, "Media in Social Work." Now in its 13th year, this unique elective trains social workers to harness the power of impact storytelling for their advocacy. Films from past years have been used by such organizations as Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Housing Works and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
What is Trojan Family Weekend?
Once a year USC invites families to visit their student, get a first-hand look at life as a Trojan and experience all USC has to offer. For alumni, it’s an opportunity to network and explore the boom USC has experienced in recent years, both physically and academically. Enjoy a four-day weekend packed with enriching lectures, intriguing tours, engaging events and, of course, some hard-driving Trojan football. The weekend kicks off on Thursday morning with our Opening Ceremony at Tommy Trojan. Activities, programs, tours, workshops, lectures and events continue all day Thursday and Friday with the weekend culminating in Saturday's USC football game against the Utes.
Who Should Attend?
Bring everyone in your family. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, cousins. Maybe this will be your first Trojan Family Weekend alongside your entering freshman. Or maybe you’ve attended several others with your upperclassman. Perhaps you’re a Trojan alum eager to rekindle the old school spirit. Whatever your perspective, this weekend presents a once-a-year opportunity to share experiences and make new memories with your student while connecting with the rest of the Trojan Family. We hope you can join us. Build your Trojan pride. Strengthen your connection to the university and your student. Remember, once you join the Trojan Family, you remain a valued member for life.
