The Filipino Family Heath Initiative
Raising Kids in the U.S. and Bridging the Cultural Gap

Raising children in America is a special challenge for immigrant families. Joyce Javier, assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and principal investigator of the Filipino Family Health Initiative, will present excerpts from the documentary Silent Sacrifices: Voices of the Filipino American Family. Javier will also share her experience implementing evidence-based parent training programs in partnership with the local Filipino community in order to prevent behavioral health disparities among Filipino youth in Los Angeles.
Light lunch will be served.
