Sexual Violence in the Muslim Community: The Role of Social Workers In Supporting Survivors in an Era of Gendered Islamophobia
Breaking Silence: Film Screening and Discussion
Sexual violence in the Muslim Community is an intersectional issue that is rarely talked about yet of profound importance, especially in our current socio-political climate.
The NASW- USC Unit, in collaboration with Vigilant Love (which was co-founded by two of our current MSW students and is doing transformational work to bridge community organizations around issues related to Islamophobia) and HEART Women and Girls, will be hosting the following event: "Sexual Violence in the Muslim Community: The Role of Social Workers In Supporting Survivors in an Era of Gendered Islamophobia."
Vigilant Love's Vision statement- "A coalition of allies using the power of solidarity and vigilant love to actively defend the safety and justice of the communities and individuals affected by Islamophobia in the Greater Los Angeles Area".
HEART Women & Girls empowers faith based communities to address sexual violence and improve sexual health literacy through health education, advocacy, research and training.
USC students, staff, and faculty are welcome and encouraged to attend. Lunch will be served. Please feel free to share with your networks.
