Seminar: Building an LA Practice-based Research Network: The Fusion of Science and Practice

The USC School of Social Work's Serious Mental Illness Services & Quality of Life Research Cluster invites you to “Building an LA Practice-based Research Network: The Fusion of Science and Practice,” a seminar presented by John Brekke, the Frances G. Larson Professor of Social Work Research, and Erin Kelly, post-doctoral scholar.
Learn about practice-based research networks (PBRNs), which are central to the the research infrastructures in many medical schools but have not flourished in the field of mental health. Brekke and Kelly will discuss strategies for the successful development of the Recovery Oriented Care Collaborative, a PBRN in Los Angeles focused on integrated care. The collaborative includes four large mental health agencies in Los Angeles that serve more than 200,000 people with serious mental illness. It has become a vehicle for improving practice by fusing practice and research.
Refreshments will be provided.
