OUR Story
Details:

Join us for a solutions-based community symposium that will highlight the stories of those who identify as female who are survivors of the school to prison pipeline and/or mass incarceration and learn ways in which all of us can be a part of disrupting and/or dismantling these systems of oppression.

The symposium will make use of panel discussions, narrative storytelling and skills-based activities to increase awareness and understanding of the issues that drive individuals, especially those impacted by the historic trauma of belonging to groups that have been traditionally marginalized, into the criminal justice system, as well as provide solutions to address these issues. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a storytelling workshop as well as other experiential activities to support participant learning and develop tools for action in our collective efforts toward systemic change.

Panelists and speakers include those formerly incarcerated and/or impacted by incarceration or educational pushout as well as those working across systems with individuals impacted by mass incarceration and educational push-out. Social justice inspired art will be incorporated throughout the day to provoke a sense of connection with the speaker's stories and a call to action to address educational push-out and mass incarceration.

General Admission of $25 ($10 for students) includes breakfast and lunch. Parking is free on-site. For an additional $15, 6.5 continuing education units (CEUs) are available.
