Resumes and Cover Letters - August 23 & August 30 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM PST
In this workshop, you will learn to treat your resume as a marketing document designed to appeal to your target audience. We will begin editing resumes accordingly. We will also work on cover letters - what they’re meant to do and how to construct them using the short three-paragraph approach.

Interviewing - September 13 & September 20 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM PST
Interviewing is a stressful experience. Composer Philip Glass said, “You practice and you get better. It’s very simple.” So we will rehearse. You will hear both common and surprising questions, learn to formulate answers, and practice them until you become more comfortable with the process. Because potential employers have a right to ask you about anything on your resume, you will learn to tell stories that illustrate your experiences and accomplishments. You will understand that an interview is a conversation between colleagues, and begin to develop your narrative, the answer to when you’re asked to “tell me about yourself.”

Social Media - September 27 & October 4 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM PST
You will learn to embrace social media as an invaluable marketing tool that will connect you with the people, groups, companies and jobs in your field. You will discover what combination of platforms work best for your particular career goals and how to begin using them effectively. We will also address privacy issues, which are a concern for many people.

Networking - October 11 & October 18 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM PST
We’re always encouraged to network. Yet many of us don’t know how to do that or are shy and find the process intimidating. In this workshop, we will work on your sound bite and your “story.” You will learn how building and deepening relationships is the key to your success now and for the rest of your career. Your new mantra will be: It’s not just what you know. It’s not even who you know. It’s how well you know each other – and how often you appear on their radar.
