Takashi Yamashita, PhD, is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His talk will focus on geographic information system (GIS) and health outcomes in the context of naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs).
Yamashita's primary research focuses on chronic disease management, subjective well-being and geographic access to health resources in older populations.
He is also involved in research projects regarding the international comparison of life satisfaction in Asia, long-term care facility residents’ satisfaction surveys, health policy evaluation and the effects of gerontology education on ageism.
