Fall 2026 Applications NOW OPEN for On-Campus MSW

Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work annually offers a wide range of scholarship funding.

Program Scholarships

Both the MSW Merit Scholarship and the endowed and philanthropic scholarships are highly competitive. While the Merit Scholarship is awarded through a holistic review of the admissions application, Endowed and Philanthropic Scholarships require a separate application.

MSW Merit Scholarship

Award: Awards vary each academic year. In 2026-2027, awards are up to $12,500.

The MSW Merit Scholarship is based on a holistic review of each student’s application for admission. All applicants are automatically considered, and no separate application is required.

Due to the competitive nature of this award, scholarships are granted based on the overall strength of the application, including academic achievement and other relevant factors.

  • Awards are granted for one academic year (two semesters).
  • Merit scholarships are not renewable or transferable, and students may not reapply in subsequent years.
  • Recipients are typically notified shortly after their admission decision.

Endowed and Philanthropic Scholarships

Award: Amount varies by donor fund.

Because of our generous donors, we are able to offer several scholarships based on scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, and financial need. These scholarships are awarded to students who meet the specific criteria of each donor fund.

In many cases, eligible students are automatically considered for and matched to scholarship opportunities at the time of admission to their academic program. For select awards where eligibility cannot be fully determined during the admissions process, or when additional funding becomes available, a separate scholarship application may be distributed to continuing students during the academic year.

Please note:

  • Scholarship awards are competitive and not guaranteed.
  • Admitted students selected for scholarships through the admissions process will be notified shortly after their admission decision.
  • For scholarships requiring an application, students will be notified if and when an application becomes available.
  • Please make sure you meet the guidelines prior to applying. Some scholarships are specific to the program (MSW, MSN, and DSW).
  • Only students awarded will be notified; denial notifications are not sent.
  • The scholarship application may only be completed once per academic year.
  • Scholarship applications will remain on file for a full academic year, and awards may be made at any time during that period.
  • Receipt of a scholarship does not guarantee future funding, as awards are subject to fund availability and donor requirements.
  • Recipients are expected to submit a thank-you letter to the donor through the Scholarship Programs office and attend a recognition gala at the end of the academic year.

External Scholarship Sources

So many organizations offer scholarships that it can be hard to keep track of them all. These resources can help you find other external scholarships to apply for. You should also consult other financial aid sources through local libraries, online search engines, federal agencies, private foundations, and organizations.
