Progressive MSW Program

Program Overview

Designed specifically for University of Southern California undergraduate students, this program allows a student to earn both their undergraduate and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees in as few as five years. Eligible applicants should have completed between 64 and 96 total units of undergraduate coursework (excluding AP, IB, or transfer units earned prior to graduation from high school), with an overall 3.3 university grade point average or higher. Applicants are admitted to our campus-based MSW program for the fall term. After successful submission of an Application for Admission to a Progressive Master’s Program, each applicant will be required to submit a statement of purpose. The highest-ranking applicants will be invited to interview with the MSW Chair and Field Education Director.

Undergraduate students who have completed, or are in the process of completing, the Suzanne Dworak-Peck’s Juvenile Justice minor are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants who have completed the Juvenile Justice minor will only need to complete the remaining 48 units out of the 60 normally required for the MSW program. We also welcome applications from all other undergraduate students, who will complete 51 or 54 of the 60 units required for the MSW.
