Biography

Dr. Karla Arriarán is a licensed clinical social worker and professional academic school counselor. She has earned a Doctorate of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with an emphasis in Administrative Leadership. Her area of research focused on the working relationships of principals and counselors in a high school setting and the effects on student's well-being. Dr. Arriarán holds a Master in Social Work from USC with a concentration in Families and Children; a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from California State University, Northridge; Pupil Personnel Service Credentials in School Social Work, Child Welfare & Attendance and School Counseling and a Certificate of Eligibility in School Administration. As a bilingual clinician, she has had experience with juvenile justice and dual diagnoses. She has been in the field of education for over 20 years with responsibilities including school based clinical therapy, crisis counseling, professional academic counseling, post high school college and career planning, as well as parent outreach and education. Most recently, as Senior Adjunct Professor at the University of La Verne, Dr. Karla Arriarán prepared graduate level students to pursue a school counseling career. She specializes in the areas of school safety and crisis prevention and clinical supervision.
